Hall of Fame QB Drops Unexpected Super Bowl Prediction Regarding Eagles

For those who trust Kurt Warner’s football insights, it might be a smart move to bet on the Philadelphia Eagles’ rushing attack. In the NFL Network’s pregame coverage on Sunday, Warner, who earned Super Bowl MVP honors with the St. Louis Rams in 2000, predicted that the Eagles would “score five rushing touchdowns” against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

The Forecast Might Be More Realistic Than It Seems (NFL)

While host Rich Eisen speculated about the possibility of the first double-overtime Super Bowl under the new rules—suggesting that both teams might score multiple touchdowns—Warner anticipated a powerhouse performance from the Eagles’ offensive line and their backfield, featuring quarterback Jalen Hurts, who set a record with 15 rushing touchdowns in the regular season, and running backs Miles Sanders, Kenny Gainwell, and Boston Scott.

Sanders racked up 1,268 rushing yards this season and scored twice against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, while Gainwell leads the team in playoff rushing yards with 160.

This forecast isn’t as far-fetched as it may seem: The Eagles scored four rushing touchdowns against the Niners, who had the NFL’s second-best run defense.

Sanders expressed his determination, saying, “This year, I wanted to make everyone feel my presence. I focused on controlling what I could and performing at my best every game.” With a line anchored by All-Pro center Jason Kelce and right tackle Lane Johnson, the Eagles have dominated the line of scrimmage with straightforward tactics, using motion on just 34% of running plays.

“You might know what’s coming, but the NFL is all about matchups,” Johnson said. “We aim to exploit matchups and create challenges for the defensive line and linebackers with our strategies.”
