Despite the heroic efforts of doctors, nurses, and EMTs to save him, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin’s journey has been anything but ordinary. After suffering a frightening cardiac arrest on the field on January 2, Hamlin moved many to tears with his appearance at the NFL Honors ceremony in February, where he was joined by the first responders and medical professionals who helped save his life and delivered a heartfelt speech.
Hamlin also made an appearance at the Super Bowl, although some conspiracy theorists bizarrely speculated that he was replaced by a clone or a body double. At the game, former NFL running back Adrian Peterson criticized Hamlin’s choice of jacket on social media but later offered an apology. With the drama now behind them, Hamlin and the Bills are turning their attention to his future in football.
“He’s focused and absolutely intends to return to play,” said Bills general manager Brandon Beane on Thursday. He mentioned that Hamlin still needs to consult with at least one more specialist and that discussions between Hamlin’s medical team and the team’s medical staff are ongoing. “Everything looks positive so far, so things are moving in the right direction,” Beane added in a statement reported by the Buffalo News.
