Aaron Rodgers Expresses Amusement on Twitter Over Jets’ Decision

Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers)

Aaron Rodgers is finding amusement in his current situation: two NFL teams, along with their fan bases, are on edge waiting for his decision on where he’ll play in 2023. For Jets fans, this isn’t unfamiliar territory—they’ve dealt with indecisive quarterbacks before. The likes of Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Joe Flacco trying to connect with open receivers has led them into the current pursuit of a seasoned 39-year-old quarterback.

On Monday night, fully aware that the entire NFL community is hanging on his every word, Rodgers dropped a hint on Twitter. He posted “SULLLLLL” with some smiley emojis, a nod to Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas.

This came after Douglas, who had been with the Eagles before joining the Packers, responded to a sportscaster’s criticism. The broadcaster had questioned why Rodgers’ teammates weren’t making a public effort to keep him in Green Bay, unlike the Jets players who were openly recruiting him on social media.

Douglas pointed out that they didn’t need to make public pleas since they could just text Rodgers directly, saying, “We have his number. We can actually text him instead of writing it on social media. As our leader, he knows how each person on the roster feels about him.” Rodgers seemed to enjoy Douglas’ retort.

Some speculate that this whole drama might be orchestrated to boost viewership for Pat McAfee’s YouTube show, where Rodgers could potentially make his announcement. Douglas joked that he had been holding onto Rodgers’ phone since his darkness retreat. Meanwhile, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner had also taken to Twitter, humorously promising not to intercept Rodgers in practice if he joined the Jets.

McAfee, for his part, remains uncertain. He mused that Rodgers could be someone who would turn down $58 million and retire, prioritizing his happiness over money, a mindset McAfee attributes to Rodgers’ laid-back, almost hippie-like approach to life.
