Tonight, AEW Dynamite will be broadcast live on TBS from the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Tony Khan announced yesterday that Warner Brothers Discovery has finally allowed Mark Briscoe to debut in AEW. The 13-time Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion will go up against Jay Lethal on tonight’s episode of “AEW Dynamite” to “celebrate the life and legacy of the late great Jay Briscoe on his 39th birthday.”
Previously, WBD had prohibited the Briscoes from appearing in AEW due to homophobic tweets Jay made in 2013. Jay had since apologized and made efforts to mend his relationship with the LGBTQ+ community.
Because of this restriction, AEW couldn’t pay tribute to Jay — who passed away on January 17 — on last week’s “Dynamite.” Instead, a tribute show was recorded and will be available on YouTube and WatchROH.com at a later date.
Additionally, AEW announced that Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. is injured and won’t be able to compete, though details about the injury were not provided.
