AEW Releases Jay Briscoe Tribute Show for Free Online Viewing

Jay Briscoe (AEW)

Following Jay Briscoe’s untimely death, AEW was unable to air a tribute show on “AEW Dynamite” due to restrictions imposed by Warner Bros Discovery. The network blocked the tribute due to Briscoe’s past homophobic tweets, despite his sincere apologies and efforts to mend relations with the LGBTQ+ community.

Undeterred, AEW proceeded to film a memorial show under the ROH banner, honoring the late wrestler who achieved a record-setting 13 ROH World Tag Team Championships with his brother Mark. This heartfelt tribute is now available for free viewing.

The “Jay Briscoe Tribute and Celebration of Life” video was posted on ROH’s YouTube channel earlier today and is also available on ROH’s Honor Club streaming service.

This three-hour special includes various matches and emotional tributes from the AEW roster, showcasing notable bouts from the Briscoes’ ROH career, such as their clash with The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) at Final Battle 2006.

Earlier this week, Tony Khan announced that the restrictions from WBD had been lifted, allowing Mark Briscoe to debut in AEW. Mark’s debut match against Jay Lethal, which took place on “Dynamite” to commemorate Jay’s birthday, saw him win using Jay’s signature move, the Jay Driller. Following the match, the AEW roster gathered on stage as a “Jay Briscoe 1984-2023” tribute appeared on the screen.
