Modest Mouse Mourns the Loss of Drummer Jeremiah Green at 45

Jeremiah Green, a drummer who co-founded and became a key member of the indie rock band Modest Mouse, passed away on Saturday in Sequim, Washington, at the age of 45.

His mother, Carol Eckerich-Namatame, revealed that cancer was the cause of his death. She mentioned that Mr. Green had been residing with his stepfather, Brian Namatame, while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

In the 1990s, Mr. Green, along with lead singer and songwriter Isaac Brock, bassist Eric Judy, and guitarist Dann Gallucci, formed Modest Mouse in Issaquah, Washington, near Seattle.

Their music featured atonal rock with Mr. Brock’s angry falsetto vocals and introspective lyrics about suburban discontent, resonating with the indie rock scene.

However, the band’s style evolved with the 2004 release of “Good News for People Who Love Bad News,” which catapulted them to mainstream success.

They produced several hit songs, including the widely popular “Float On.” The band’s sound became more melodic, with Mr. Green’s drumming contributing to a danceable rhythm.
