WWE Releases Update on NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez

At “WWE NXT” Roadblock on Tuesday night, Roxanne Perez defended her “NXT” Women’s Championship against Meiko Satomura. After her victory, Perez collapsed in the ring just as Satomura handed her the belt.

Medical staff, referees, Shawn Michaels, and Booker T quickly attended to her, and viewers last saw her being taken to an ambulance. WWE has now shared an encouraging update on her condition.

“Update: Roxanne Perez has been discharged from the hospital and is now at home resting,” WWE tweeted.

Initially, WWE announced that Perez would be kept in the hospital overnight for further observation. Although she is now home, it’s unclear if she will compete at “NXT” Stand and Deliver on April 1. So far, only two matches are confirmed for the event: Johnny Gargano vs. Grayson Waller and Carmelo Hayes challenging “NXT” Champion Bron Breakker.

Perez captured the “NXT” Women’s Championship on December 13 by defeating Mandy Rose, ending her lengthy reign, and becoming the youngest women’s champion in “NXT” history. Since then, she has successfully defended her title five times, including the match against Satomura. Leading up to the event, vignettes showed Perez undergoing rigorous training.

The dramatic collapse at NXT Roadblock, reminiscent of a mid-90s Shawn Michaels storyline, raised concerns among fans. However, it was a scripted event, indicated by the absence of the referee’s X sign used for real injuries. WWE’s strict head injury protocols would have led to multiple reports if Perez had been genuinely injured.

This angle has elevated Perez’s character, possibly leading her to wear a neck brace to highlight her toughness. Her participation in Stand and Deliver remains uncertain, suggesting she might be sidelined for a while.

Tiffany Stratton, who expressed her desire to challenge for the Women’s Championship before Roadblock, may be Perez’s next opponent. It is unclear if their match will be scheduled for April 1 or a later date.
