Nikki and Brie have decided to adopt their last name, Garcia, as they move on from WWE. The duo will no longer use The Bella Twins’ name since WWE holds the trademark rights to the Bella moniker.

In a recent podcast episode, they shared insights into their decision to part ways with WWE:

Nikki explained, “As our contract with WWE came to an end, it became clear that it was time for us to start a new chapter. We are deeply thankful for the past 17 years. I’ve gained immense knowledge both in and out of the ring, traveled globally, and built a strong fan base. This is part of any relationship, whether personal or professional. Sometimes you reach a point where it’s time to go in different directions. It’s not necessarily permanent, but it feels right at this moment.”

Brie added, “This isn’t a negative development. Often, people look for something bad in such changes, but for us, it’s a positive transition. We’ve been contemplating this for years. I’m grateful to the Brie Bella character and name for bringing serious changes to my life. Now, closing that chapter feels liberating. It’s exciting to begin on a new journey as Brie Garcia.”

Nikki also reflected, “I am profoundly thankful for Nikki Bella. She inspired me and helped me rediscover my inner strength. Starting this new chapter with our original names feels empowering. It’s a leap of faith, and we are excited to reintroduce ourselves after 17 years, fully aware of our value and direction.”

Brie concluded, “Returning to my original self feels incredibly freeing. I no longer have to apologize for who I am. It’s refreshing to embrace my true, unfiltered self without reservations.”
