Isn’t love in the air? Well, this autumn, it definitely is as Netflix brings us another Season of Mismatched, a coming-of-age web series that will leave our hearts pounding. This Netflix Hindi-language series stars the famous YouTuber, MostlySane, aka Prajakta Koli, who rose to prominence due to her relatable content.
The series is based on a novel titled When Dimple Met Rishi (an Indian-American twist on When Harry Met Sally), written by Sandhya Menon, but has twists and turns that are due to Gazal Dhaliwal’s adaptation. The series is directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari.
The first season was released on 20th November 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, and the audiences at home binged the series, making it one of the most successful shows. Critiques and audience both praised the series. However, there were considerable criticisms as well. This led Netflix to renew the series for a second season, on 3rd March 2021.
Mismatched Season 1: Plot
The series is based on two teenage characters, Rishi and Dimple, who have very different goals in their lives. Rishi is looking for a life partner when he stumbles upon Dimple’s profile on a matrimonial website. He decides to win her heart during the summer course they attend together.

Dimple is the human opposite of Rishi, or so it seems at first sight. She is a young woman who is looking to achieve great things in her career in tech coding, which drives her against the idea of tying the knot so soon. However, she soon gets to know what is going on behind the scenes and why she was sent to Jaipur by her family in the first place.
She was set up by her family to fall in love with Rishi. However, Rishi and Dimple soon start on their own journey, and it seems as if the parents weren’t so wrong after all. Soon, the supporting cast of friends enters the scene, making the series more entertaining. Namrata and Celina stun in their roles.
Further complications arise when Dimple wants to focus on her app, which leads to a thrilling climax with Anmol, with various secrets getting out in the open, threatening Rishi and Dimple’s relationship.
Season 1 closes the curtains here with an epic cliffhanger. Although the book was originally set in the United States of America, Dhaliwal’s adaptation brings the story under the Jaipur sun for a lovely, heartfelt romance.
