The Outcast (Under one person) is a Chinese/ Japanese collaborative anime web series, an adaptation of a comic titled, ‘Hitori no Shita: The Outcast.’ It is written by Dong Man Tang along with the illustration by Mi Er, under the publication of China Tencent. Moreover, it was directed by Wang Xin with the assistance of Kazuhiro Toda and Mitsuo Mori. This comedy and action fantasy series had its first season to be aired from July 9, 2016, to September 24, 2016, followed by season 2 launched from January 16, 2018, to June 26, 2018, with simulcast in China well as Japan. For season 1, the animation was executed by Pandanium, while the second season was animated by Haoliners.
The plot of the anime series focuses on Cho Shoran, an ordinary middle-class child who lives a carefree life without any burdens, unaware of what will happen in the future. Cho is oblivious of his fate, as his family keeps a secret that his grandfather left before his death away from him. When Cho’s grandpa was around, he always tried his best to give him a life full of happiness. This was because the grandfather never experienced that in his lifetime. He always used to warn Cho to stay away from any unusual trouble and adventure. But as his grandfather dies, the hidden secrets makes the reality to change its course.
This change encounters Cho when one day, he hears a scream while strolling around his grandpa’s graveyard. As Cho leads towards It, he sees a girl digging up the pit for the grave and gets stuck on his head upon reaching the spot. Even before he realizes what happened, he finds himself lying inside that pit. This strange encounter with this unknown girl leaves Cho in an utterly weird situation, which starts their journey of endless adventures as they strive to fight against the forces of evil zombies. The storyline of the series is seen to progress and get stranger as the seasons develop further. Also, the characters have seen major transformation throughout the series, which was highly praised by fans, and hence, they cannot get enough of it.
After season 2 end, the viewers have been waiting for its third installment. Rumors were circling that this new installment will be released by the end of 2019, but unfortunately, it turned out to be fallacious. Finally, season 3 of the series got its release on April 24, 2020, with 8 episodes. The new installment and previously released two seasons are made available on Crunchyroll to stream online (with English subtitles and dubs) for the audience on an international level. So far, the response from the viewers appears to be quite good. Fans are looking pretty much excited and continue to praise the graphics, animation, new styles along with the VFX being used in the third season of ‘Hitori no Shita: The Outcast.’ So, as season 3 seems to be successful, it will be interesting to anticipate the possibility of planning to make season 4.
